The Take Action Tour was Friday night. Avenged Sevenfold, 18 Visions, Further Seems Forever, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Poison the Well performed. Overall, it was fun. FSF were definitely the most enjoyable set, followed by PTW and A7F. All in all, the hard/metalcore genre still doesn’t appeal incredibly to me. Mostly because it all seems like bullshit posturing. But I can’t deny that it was enjoyable. Most enjoyable was talking with Arielle from the
Hopeline Network. Their 1800SUICIDE line is the reason for the tour, and that’s the real reason I went. I always enjoy talking to her and they do really good work and I think it’s important to support that. I actually ended up in a really good conversation with her about non-profits, PIRG, the Hopeline, and the actions that people within them take that often times poison people to working with them. Oh, and there were some canvassing tips shared as well, because I can’t leave my work at home. Ever.
Last night,
The Bouncing Souls and
Strike Anywhere rocked my socks. The Casualties, the Arsons and My Chemical Romance also made appearances, but overall, they weren’t great. The Casualties had to show up to another concert of mine, and try to ruin it with their shitty fans and lack of musical talent and ability.
However, SA and the Souls were…awesome. SA played an incredibly solid set of awesome punkhardcore. Seeing the Bouncing Souls is tantmount to a religious experience at this point, and last night was no different. They are seriously one of the best concerts you could ever see. Every note is perfect, and everything is dead on. Greg of course went through the crowd afterwards giving high fives and hugs. They ended it with a rendition of Night Train that had the entire crowd as well as Brian in tears by the end of it. It was incredible. I drove home very content, if not a little too tired.
Tonite I’m going to see the Swingin Utters, Youth Brigade, and my friends Stick Figure Suicide. SFS was sitting beside me last night on the Balcony and they are quite the cool band of guys. Tonite will be fun, and be my first step in becoming a Philly scenester. BWHAHAHAHAHA.
Oh, and KSkills says this web log thing is too geeky. Fah.
