Better plans have been made…
I finally got a needle for my turntable. A quite respectable Technics SL-BD20 for those that care. It has a Technics cartridge and some random needle from Grooves. The only stitch is that I do not have a receiver. However, I do have my Powerbook and a Griffin iMic. So I set it all up and…not only am I underwhelmed with the iMic’s sound quality but also with my own stupidity.
Since I’ve basically gone all digital with my music I’ve been mostly listening to my iPod were I to want to sit far away from my desk, say on my bed. Not a bad setup and it helps me cure some of my musical A.D.D. by listening through songs that don’t grab me in the first 2 seconds. However, the problem is thus: My record player is connected to my speakers via my iMic, which works via USB on my computer (via the abominable Final Vinyl program…gross). So you see the problem. I am currently enjoying “wireless freedom” sitting at my desk with my legs up and speaker wires and USB cables tethering me to said desk.
D’oh.
Nevermind the fact that I am listening to vinyl of which I own both the CDs and MP3s of.
