public transit
I am a large proponent of public transit. The fact that San Francisco has a pretty nice system (including a trip planner) is actually a fairly large and influencing factor on my appreciate of the area. Regardless of the bitching (of myself and others) about the rate hikes and schedules, SF is probably one of the most accessible cities based on public transit that I’ve ever been in. In fact, the buses are actually usable, instead of being roaming crack dens!

What drives me up a wall is when I’m on a bus, which is packed but by no means “full”, and the bus driver drives right past some skinny little 17 year old, trying to get home from the sketchy part of the Fillmore at 11:30pm. Then, the driver stops down the block to let someone off, and the kid has run up the city block and jumps on the bus. The driver then cuts him off and starts yelling at him saying that he “would have stopped, but the bus was full, can’t stop if the bus is full!” Now the driver knows full damned well that the next 22 is going to be along in like 45 minutes to an hour at best! Argh. Some things about humans drive me nuts. I just don’t get it.
