Off Duty U.S. Customs officer shoots unarmed 19-year old Arab-American in head and face. Authorities state that officer committed no wrong-doing and did not even book him for questioning.
I’ve avoided politics for a bit in this here space, but a) I think that most people haven’t heard about this and b) this isn’t really politics.
I’ve never been a fan of the “
fuck police brutality” slogan bandied about much of left, that’s a matter of public record. Mainly my reasons have centered around the fact that I understand the need for a police force, and this type of rhetoric serves to harden the line between such a peace keeping force and the rest of us. It helps to create the sense of power vs powerless that they seem to be so staunchly against. But that’s just my two cents.
However, in this case, it appears as if some sort of investigation would be prudent. Read the account, it’s startling.
