I spent the weekend up in Connecticut, at Trinity College in Hartford. It was the
NSCAHH Hunger and Homelessness Conference and it was a lot of fun. There were a ton of PIRGers that I hadn’t seen since national training, and some that I had never even met. Plus there were about 240 students and activists that I got to meet and mingle with. It was definitely worth the drive, the sleeping on a gym floor, and the running around to secure food for the masses.
Oh, and on Halloween (whilst I was up in Hartford) we went out to an Irish pub. I am officially limiting the amount of rump-shaking that I do while in bars now. I was accosted by a very intoxicated woman in her mid to late 30’s, apparently due to the locomotion of my caboose. She hauled back and gave me the ass-slap heard ’round the bar, and it was quite unnerving. She then groped me, and was kindly pushed towards some other poor fellow who danced with her, until her friendly hands entered into a more private area, and he passed her off just like the drunken hot potato that she was. Needless to say, Halloween at an Irish pub with a cheesy cover band, some guys from Vermont, and some ass slappery makes for a good time.
Now I am back in wonderful South Jersey, and it’s about 75 degrees today. Craziness.
I am going to throw a brick at my downstairs neighbors. When you are doing laundry, sometimes you can’t get down to check on it immediately. I think this is an accepted fact in life. I also think that part of living and sharing resources with people is being considerate. This includes, in my humble opinion, moving clothes that are in the washer to the dryer when you want to use said washing machine. It does not include setting the clothes out on the counter to start to air dry and smell odd. It’s driving me insane.
John moved in this weekend. It’s nice to have another person in the house. We are all three still trying to figure out each others’ patterns and co-habitate, but it isn’t that weird now, so it’s very good I think. My new comforter came, just in time for it to be hot as hell, but no cover yet. Yarg.
Clint now has a weblog on this here site. Yay Clint. I am going to start keeping a tab of the different insults that my friends use to describe me. Most common are “sad emo boy” and “soap dodging hippie”. I’d say both of these are fairly accurate, if not a bit on the harsh side.
I have a free weekend this weekend. How cool is that? Friday night I’m going to…umm…….do something. Hopefully I can throw down in Philly. I need to go there anyways, soak up some culture and whatnot. I hear that Ruder Than You is back alive and kicking in Philly, so I hit that shit sometime soon.
Oh,
Friendster has totally taken off. I remember when it was just a fledging online community with servers that moved faster than molasses.
MySpace has moved in to take the place of it, as the cool, hip alternative. Will those crazy online matchmakers never stop?
